Harsh but fair?
There is a lot to be said about things getting lost in translation but this is my favourite at the moment.
It seems the algorithms at Facebook have clocked that I’m a writer.
What they haven’t clocked is that I’m a professional writer and have a very childish sense of humour!
You see, there’s this snazzy app thingy that promises to save the time-starved marketer time writing stuff about things.
“Oooooooh, that sounds handy” say some people.
I think it sounds like a device that is intended to help you get smarter that has just done the dumbest thing I’ve seen in marketing for a while.
It insulted me.
No, not the “tool” bit, that is however, hilarious.
It has insulted me that it thinks I would use something that is clearly somewhat “flawed” with its targeting and that someone who CAN actually write would likely not touch with a ten foot errr tool.
They claim they “consulted with the world’s best SEO and Direct Response Marketing experts to teach Jasper how to write blog articles, social media posts, website copy, and more…”
Guys, next time, consult with someone who actually writes British English if you want to market to British marketers.
Some might say the ad worked because here I am telling you all about it.
